Q. What does the franchise system include?
A. Owning and operating an assigned franchise, use of The Pooch Patio brand name, trademarks, operational systems, and design. Additionally, you will receive support in these specific areas:
- Prototypical architectural plans and assistance in the development of your specific construction plans.
- Specifications for fixtures, furniture, equipment, and leasehold improvements.
- Assistance in site selection.
- Corporate training.
- Ongoing support from The Pooch Patio operations team.
- Full list of approved suppliers for all necessary goods and services.
- Operating manuals, policies, procedures, and business management systems.
Q. How much is the franchise fee for The Pooch Patio The Pooch Patio franchise opportunity?
A. Prototype 1 (Full Service Establishment and larger module): The Franchise fee is $50,000 per location.
Prototype 2 (Limited Service Establishment and Smaller module): The Franchise fee is $25,000 per location.
Q. Does The Pooch Patio offer multi-unit development opportunities?
A. Yes. We are actively seeking franchisees who will build multiple locations over time.
To secure the rights to open multiple units in a specific trade area, you must pay an area development fee will
be calculated by multiplying $12,500 for a Limited Service Location or $25,000
for a Full Service Location times the number of The Pooch Patio Businesses to be developed under the
Area Development Agreement. If you meet your obligations under the Area Development Agreement and are not otherwise in
default under any other agreement with us, as you sign Franchise Agreements for each Franchised
Business developed under the Area Development Agreement, we will credit $12,500 for a Limited
Service Location or $25,000 for a Full Service Location of the Area Development Fee that you paid
towards the Franchise Fee due for each Franchised Business. However, under no circumstances will we
grant credits in excess of the total amount of the Area Development Fee you paid under the Area
Development Agreement. Additionally, if you are in compliance with the Area Development
Agreement, then as you sign a Franchise Agreement for each Franchised Business that you develop to
satisfy the Development Schedule, the Franchise Fee for those Franchised Businesses will be the amount
specified in the Area Development Agreement (currently $25,000 for a Limited Service Location or
$50,000 for a Full Service Location), regardless of whether our standard Franchise Fee is higher at the
time you sign the Franchise Agreements for each Franchised Businesses.
The Franchise Fee and Area Development Fee are uniform for all franchisees.
Q. How much is the on-going royalty fee?
A. 5% of total gross sales less sales tax.
Q. How much is the advertising and promotional obligation?
A. 3% of total gross sales less sales tax. We allocate this 3% advertising and promotional obligation between contributions to the system advertising fund and expenditures for local advertising.
Q. How is the site selected for my location?
A. The Pooch Patio will provide Real Estate assistance and must approve all locations. It is the franchisees responsibility to present potential sites for approval to us. We will provide a Site Approval Package to assist each franchisee in this regard.
Q. Is there any experience necessary to own a franchise?
A. Yes, but not necessarily in the pet care industry. We are actively searching for candidates with strong business and leadership skills.
Q. Do I need to be involved in the day-to-day operation of my franchise?
A. At least one owner or a designated general manager must be involved on a full-time basis and must be responsible for the day-to-day operations and management. At least one owner must assume responsibility for general oversight and management of each location.
Q. How will I know if I have the necessary finances?
A. You must show a net worth in excess of $1,000,000, with $300,000 available in liquid assets for each proposed location to be developed.
Q. How long is the term of The Pooch Patio franchise agreement?
A. The franchise agreement term is ten (10) years, renewable for another ten (10) years.
